Merry Christmas

We had a Christmas party at the club house. Everyone brought a dish to pass and we had turkey and ham supplied by the park.
Niels and Deb all dressed up for the party.
Everyone also brought a gift to play white elephant. You could steal the gift up to 3 times.
The park owner, Shawn got the funniest gift of all. The Potty Putter.
Peggy with her festive top on.
The park had a Christmas lights contest and we came in third place with our Laser light show on the RV. The prize for third was $10 off this months electric bill. I probably used up that much electricity to light it all up. So we broke even.
As I am writing this blog today the wind is blowing at 40 MPH and only 51 degrees out, but the sun is out. Had to take the flag down and button the cover on the Big Dog. We are sitting in the RV watching a Saturday Night Live marathon. We will have football later to watch. Yeah!!
Cliff has the holiday craps again! I had to sleep on the couch last night to let him out fast. Yipee!

Merry Christmas to all!

Desert Run

I went on a Desert Run with Richard, Fred and Niels. I rode with Richard in the Jeep, Niels and Fred rode their 4 wheelers.
We rode to Weeping Springs at the bottom of Sleeping Indian Mountain. On the way we stopped at some active Gold mines.
I guess they find gold in the bottom of this hole in the ground. You could not see the bottom.
We saw a lot of mines and all of them had these signs and a little tube with the paper work showing how many acres and the purchase price of the claim.
This is a mine with a gate to keep claim jumpers out.
It was a rough ride in the Jeep. Most of the time we were only going 5 MPH.
On the way we stopped at this old mining shack out in the middle of the desert.
People leave different things in and around the shack.
These are Teddy Bear Cactus. They are the most dangerous ones. They also call them the jumping Cactus, because they seem to jump up and get you. So I tried to stay away from them.
This is Weeping Springs. A pretty small spring but it is water in the middle of the desert.
I had to hike up a little hill to get to it. There was Goat poop all over the place. But we did not see any of them around. I did see a Coyote run up and over a hill.
We stopped and had lunch at Weeping Springs.
We had to go down and then back up to get to the springs. It was a good time with new friends here in Quartzsite, AZ.

Good Times Roll

The weather here in Quartzsite has been really nice in the 70's and sunny.
We had a fun afternoon at our favorite establishment Beer Belly's Adult Day Care. They have live music every day now.

We have talked to a lot of people that dry camp out in the BLM land. That does not sound like fun to me, I like having water and power ALL the time. That might be why the bar is so busy. They have to come in and drink and see some kind of civilization.
Funny People with a good sense of humor.
 The Band.
Nice sunny day.
A little motorcycle show in the parking lot at Beer Belly's.

We have put up our Christmas lights on the RV and I added a laser light show.

Peggy having fun in the lights.
Oh donut heaven! A nice big one with bacon on it. Food pictures, I had to put this one in the blog.
We had a beautiful sunset last night.

Pizza

I am trying not to take pictures of food but we can talk about it. I have been making my own Pizza dough and it is killer good on the BGE. I made Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza the other night. I prebaked the crust on the BGE. Then added the chicken and bacon.

We took Cliff to the city park so he could remember what GRASS looked like. He was so happy to poop on real grass again.

Look at that stunned look. It IS real GRASS!
The weather has been a little cool here. Low 70's during the day and in the high 30's at night. But NO rain. I have had to fill the propane twice so far.
A lot of the vendors are starting to set up in town. We found a place the sells Dot's Pretzels from North Dakota. They are really good. Hard to stop eating them sometimes. We also found a place that cooks fresh cut French Fries that are really good. So much food so little time.

Friends From Michigan

We had some friends from Michigan stop by, Denish and Sandhya. We went to Silly Al's for a nice lunch. It was good to see both of them. It was good to hear some news from home. I worked with Denish at KUKA the best place I ever worked.

On last Saturday there was a coin  shoot out at the town park. They took 14000 Nickels, Quarters and Dimes and some tokens and planted them in the park. They get one hour to find as much as they can with metal detectors. They keep all the money they find and the tokens are for prizes.
Getting ready.
On the hunt!
We sat in the back of the truck to get a view from above.
Solving world problems at Happy Hour!
Our Thanksgiving Day potluck here at the club house in the park. The food was great. I way over ate.
Finely got my flag pole set up fixed. So it flies again.

Quinn Pass

We took a Big Dog ride to Bouse, AZ. To get there we had to ride through Quinn Pass. There was a historic marker with the history of Thomas P. Quinn a long lost relative of ours. (I am sure my mom knew him)

There was a sign up sheet at the base of the sign so we left our name and date in the book.
This is the Ocotillo Lodge in Bouse, AZ. Good place. Where else can you get $1.00 drafts all day every day?
The Saguaro Cactus is growing through the roof on the porch of the lodge. Add this place to our list of cool out of the way places we have been.
Peggy got some good pictures of the Saguaro Cactus in the desert on the way to Bouse.
Here are some people boon-docking on the BLM land. We are not into doing that. We like FULL HOOK-UP!

This is some desert cactus art.

We are going WAY back on this one. Grandma, Grandpa and aunt Mary Jane on grandpa's Harley in front of  Miller's Meat Market in Saginaw, MI. Grandpa owned the Meat Market.

Pretty Quiet

Pretty quiet here in Quartzsite but the weather is pretty good. It's has been in the mid 70's and always sunny. At night it gets a little cool, down to the 40's. So we run the furnace at night, but it makes for good sleeping.
This is just a cool bar.
Deb, Peggy and I made the big trip to Beer Belly's then to the store to get food for the weekend.
Some of the ladies playing cards in the park.

Some of the flowers here in the park.
I made a new handle for the BGE. It's made of Saguaro Cactus wood. Some of the guys in the part go out in the desert in their quads and bring the wood back and make walking sticks out of them.

It should get busier after thanksgiving here in Quartzsite. Some of the flea markets are starting to get set up. They have a big area for the "Big Tent" right behind Beer Belly's for the RV show in January. They say that it will take an hour to get through town when the RV show is on. You can buy anything you need for your RV there.
