Back In AZ

We have moved to Holbrook, Arizona OK RV Park. It's a park that has NO grass and not a lot of trees. That is one thing we kind of miss sometimes (Especially Cliff). It is one of those parks that fills up at night then empties out in the morning.
This is our site. It is real long so we put out the back Patio, with our table and chairs. We don't get to do that very often because most sites aren't long enough.
The Petrified Forest National Park is real close. We are planning to going there tomorrow. They have some petrified wood at the park office here are some pictures Peggy took. It is illegal to take petrified wood from the park. But there is petrified wood on private land.
We did get some good pictures of the Blood Moon the other night in Albuquerque.
We had a great view of it all night. It was hard to get the camera to focus on it.
Our drive here was 228 miles. That is right in our favorite distance to go in a day.
We have unloaded the BGE to make Pizza on it tonight for dinner.

Old Town

We went to Old Town Albuquerque for lunch. It is a little tourist trap with some restaurants and shops.
Here is the High Noon Saloon. We went in but could not get service so we walked out and went to a different restaurant. It looked like a cool place to have lunch.
Here is one of those shops. See the Peppers hanging outside.
Trying to stay in the shade, the sun is hot down here. This part of town is like a southern Frankenmuth (With Peppers instead of Chicken).
Today I am smoking a Turkey on the BGE. We have not had that for a while. I think the last time was in Texas. I did make some Jerky yesterday on the BGE and it is killer Jerky.  Going to watch some football and Nascar today. The weather is just great it is going to be in the 80's and sunny again today.

Albuquerque, NM

We made the big drive to Albuquerque, NM (238 miles). We are at American RV Park. It's a real nice park. We have a big pull thru site with full hook up and cable TV. The only thing wrong is the park is right next to I40, so we get a lot of road noise.
Just after we got here a huge thunder storm hit with heavy rain and hail. The motorhome next to us lost his flag pole. The wind was very strong.
I am having a little problem with my black water dump valve. It is not closing all the way. So when we get to the next stop and I open the dump pipe to hook up the hose It dumps some really bad stuff on me. The valve is way under the cover on the bottom of the RV so I can not even see it. I am going to make a trip to camping world today to see if I can get a valve that goes right on the end of the dump pipe. Camping World is just on the other side of I40 from here. I do get lucky sometimes.
We had dinner at Route 66 Pit Stop. They are world famous for their Laguna Burger, it has green chilies on it and they were HOT!

Wildlife!

Here at the NRA Whittington Center they have 33,000 acres and it is full of wildlife.
I think this is a White Tail Deer.
This is a Prong Horn Antelope.
This one has a salad in his rack.
A Jack Rabbit and Cotton Tail Rabbits here.
Here is your average Lizard.

The Santa fe Trail crosses the road inside the park.
 Taking close aim.
There are 10 different shooting ranges and trap shoot and sporting clays courses.
I went down to the small bore range to shoot my 22's. The targets were a little far away, maybe 100 yards. It was the first time I shot my Henry Survival AR-7. It did shoot real nice for a gun you put together out of the stock. I shot the group in the lower left with that gun. That is pretty good from 100 yards, I think.

On The Move

We have moved to the NRA Whittington Center, West Campground. It is a nice campground with full hookup. Our site has a 100 amp power hook up. Oh it's in Raton, New Mexico. We had to pick up some Bear Poop on our site.
This morning the park was full of Deer. Peggy got some pictures.
Here is a nice young buck. We saw a bigger one, but did not get a good shot of him.
There are all kinds of shooting ranges here. We can hear them shooting. We will go check that out some time today. We may go shoot some ourselves.
Here is our site. A nice big one with lots of room.
We need to make a trip to town to get some provisions, we are running low on food. The town looks small and not a lot of restaurants to go to. We need to unload the BGE. That is not a bad thing.

Circle The Wagons

We made a big move to Circle The Wagons RV Park, 75 miles in La Verta, CO. This is a nice little park, the only thing wrong is we are on a non friendly satellite site. After our short trip we went to a small town of Cuchara and had lunch at the world famous Dog Bar and Grill.
You can take your dog in the bar here. Cliff loved that.
There were two big dogs sitting right next to us having lunch too.
The food was real good.
Then after lunch we went for a walk down to the Cuchara river or more like a stream.
Because of this non friendly satellite site we had to listen to the Nascar race on my tablet. Good thing we still have Verizon 4G here.
We are at about 7500 feet above sea level so our bed is a little harder here. That is just a weird thing.

Oh No

We only stayed in Fort Collins two nights. Then I picked the Pueblo Lake State Park. Oh did I screw up. This park only has 30 amp and NO water or sewer.  I did not check to see if they had full hookup. So I am fired from making Reservations from now on. But we have a nice view of the lake. In the morning we heard a Coyote howling close to our camp site. That was cool.
Our site.
The evening sun set.
Today I am doing some trailer work. We have about 15000 miles on the tires and one looks a little bad on the outside. So I took it off and went to the tire shop to get a new one. All the rest of them look OK for now. I love the power hydraulic jacks on this RV. I put them in manual mode a jacked up the side with the bad tire to change it. That is so cool. I can get a tire off in minutes (almost Nascar Fast).

Happy Labor Day

Happy Labor Day to everyone. We are still in Glenrock WY. It is windy everyday even more than in Mercedes TX. We have seen storms go by most evenings. But we have not been hit by one yet.
Here is one of those storms.
 Our view one evening.
The sky after a storm that missed us.
Cliff has been such a good boy he got a new toy the last time we went to Petco.
Today I am going to cook chicken wings on the BGE.
We move on Tuesday after all the Labor Day traffic is done, I hope. We are going to Fort Collins, Co a KOA park. We try not to go to KOA's they are too expensive to stay at and are geared up for kids. We kind of like the +55 parks.

On our Ride

Not too much to blog about here in Wyoming. So a look back to one of our rides in Montana. We rode to Red Lodge one day. It's a small western town that was pretty cool. Then on our way back we rode past an old mining site, it had a sign that read "The Smith Mining Disaster".
On February 27, 1943 there was the worst coal mining disaster in Montana history. 74 miners died and only 3 survived. They were as deep as 8000 feet. The mine is near Bearcreek Montana. Peggy got this shot from the back seat of the Big Dog.
This is how it looked back in 1943. The Smith Mining company did not survive the disaster and it close shortly after.
The office building as it is today.
It is interesting to look back at some things like this. I am glad we got to ride past this old mining site and look it up on the internet and read about it.
