Winding Down

We are winding down this year's stay in Yuma. It's time to hit the road and see some new and some of our old favorite places. We'll be leaving this week. First stop is a Freightliner dealer to get some work done on the motor home. Should only take a day or so. They have always taken good care of us.

The weather was a little cool this year. But it's nice and warm now. In the low 90's. We had a good year anyway.

We're going to fill the shed full of our stuff we leave here. The hardest thing to leave is the large BGE. We'll take the Mini-Max Egg, but it can't do some of the things that the large does.

You can see it's a little warmer now.

Mr. Owl is NOT doing his job very well.

My latest bird deterrent attempt. We'll see if this works. Keep your fingers crossed. We can't shoot them!

And this is how I got the thing up there. Fat guy on a ladder. It was pretty scary! Peggy was down on the patio holding the ladder with her phone ready to call 911.

And Katie is napping on the job too. She is supposed to keep the yard free of wild life.

This is the largest lizard we've seen here on the lot. They are OK. They eat bugs.

Stealth Peggy sets up the camera to see Larry the Lizard up close. Just good entertainment.

We made our last trip to Mexico. We had to get a couple of bags of these really good nuts. They are good and salty and go well with a cold Beer. No sea salt crap! I hate sea salt.

Katie, just being cute sitting on the fire pit.

Great Weather is Here!

The Great weather is finally here! We had record low, average temperatures the whole winter. Now the good weather is here and all the Canadians have flown north for the summer. They used  up all their 182 days. We miss them all and hope they had good travels on the way north. We'll see them all this fall.

One of our last big happy hours.

Dinner at Gord and Maureen's. Gord fried some really good fish for dinner. We had tons of food. Maureen made a killer pecan pie.

I brought S'mores for more dessert. Only burned my finger once.
Glenn, Sandra, April, Cliff, Peggy and I at the best restaurant in town, A&R Grill. Glenn promised that they are going to come down next fall for the winter. We'll see. April and Cliff just bought a new RV and will be down too.

Got this really rare picture of Doug drinking a pop! Never seen that before. That is just NOT right.

Now that most of our friends are gone we have to have creative happy hours, just me and Peggy. Having a "Margarita Happy Hour".

We've been working on our summer trip, making reservations. It's time consuming and a pain in the butt and some of the prices for the parks have gone way up! And thanks to Joe the price of fuel is going up too! One park in Butte, MT cost $136 a night and it's a dumpy KOA! We are not going there! We love Butte but are not paying that much for a dumpy park.

The wild Dogs are having fun on the run.

Katie enjoying the warm Arizona sun.

St Patrick's Day Party

We hosted our annual St. Patrick's Day Party again and it was a really good time. The weather was great.

We had a good crowd.

And yes we got the "Shot Ski" out to kick up the fun. Brad, Edie and Sandi started the fun.

We got a "6er" of 805, one of our favorite Beers here in the southwest. We started at 11:00 am. You can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning!
The after party at Gord and Maureen's around their new table. When you start at 11:00 am all the old people are gone by 4:00.
We had 6 guys lift the cement table out of the back of Barney's truck. Gord and Barney got it in Mexico. It was REALLY heavy. It will never be moved again!

On Sunday Peggy and I went to the NASCAR race in Phoenix. The weather was great for race day. It was just a long day going to the track and back home after the race.

The view from our seats at the track.

Last week we had our semi annual USA vs Canada golf tournament. We kicked their butts 5-1-1! I set up the teams and had to bring in some ringers to get enough teams to play. There are more Canadians than Americans in our golf league.
Got my Starlink mount all set up on the back of the motor home. This should work great this summer on our fun travels.

Doug and Michelle stopped by on their way to San Diego. They had a different motor home this time.

New Toy

Still a little cool weather here. We're running about 10 degrees below the average, that should be 75 degrees.  I hope it will snap out of it and be in the 80's soon.

I got a new toy, a small action camera. Kind of like a Go Pro but way cheaper. It works just as well. The Akaso Brave 7 LE. It comes with all kinds of mounting tools.

I can now put Videos in the Blog. The app on my phone has some great editing software for it. So here we go with my first Video.

A little Video of our lot.
Gary came over and helped me change the oil in the RV ( He did all the hard work). He was a diesel mechanic in his former life. It takes almost 5 gallons of oil.
Thanks to Gary for doing a great job. Gary had the right tools to get the oil filter off. It's really hard to get to. You can hardly see it.
After the oil change we had a good Sunday happy hour.
Peggy and I helped Bill pick up a new Kamado Joe. He got a really good deal on it.
He's going to take it home and install it in a table he has made for a Big Green Egg. It should be easy to adjust to fit the Kamado  Joe.
Our passenger seat had some worn panels in it. So I took to Action Upholstery to get it fixed. Dan at Action does the best work. It looks like brand new! We may have to do the driver's seat next year.
Installed back in the Motor Home. We have to take good care of our Rolling Home.
We sent Heidi some of our stickers and she took them on a cross country snowmobile trip in the UP.  This is the highest point in Michigan in the UP. Thanks Heidi and Matt! We leave them in places in our travels too. So if you find one, take a selfie of you and the sticker.
Matt just sent me this picture. Now that is going BIG! Just getting ready for grilling season.

A little cool here

The weather has been a little cool here. The average high temperature for this time of year is 70, but the highs have only been in the low 60's. But, as long as the sun is out and it's not windy, it's not bad out.

I played in the Canadian Invitational Golf outing with Larry, Hanna, and Shantell. We had a ton of fun. But we shot 3 over par. Not too good. We were the last team out and it got a little cool on the last two holes.

We did a little improvement on the RV port. We ordered the parts when we first got back in October and it took 10 weeks to get the parts. It only took them about a half hour to put it on.

Looks really good! They did a fine job. We put it up to block the sun on those hot afternoons. We can hide in the shade and maybe get out of the west wind.

We had a good group for Bill's birthday and yes it's at our favorite place, A&R Grill.

We had a little problem with the control of our Air Conditioners. With "Auto Gen Start" enabled, the compressors would not come on. So I called Fire Fly, the display people, and told them my problem and they sent me new software. I installed it and it took care of the problem. That was good Fire Fly service.

It was cold and windy on Monday, So I took a ride to Quartzsite, AZ for the big tent RV show. But the most fun was stopping at Beer Belly's Adult Day Care. They had a good band playing and the place was packed.

They have made some improvements to the old place.
The big RV show was packed too. All things RV for sale.

Shantell had a concert at Carefree RV park. She had about 85 people attend which was more than Elvis had. She played for about an hour. You can go to her website, just click here Shantellogden.com

Peggy with our new sun block on the RV port. They both look pretty good.

I made a little adjustment to our fire pit. I lowered the fire deflector. It works great now and throws out way more heat.

10 Best Things

OK, Here are the 10 best things we love about our new motor home. After having the new rig for 1 year today.

Number 1

So much easier to maneuver in the RV park. It's way better to park in small sites and works well in big sites also.

Number 2

The big engine, 360 HP. We get 9.4 miles per gallon. That's way better than the big truck got. It works great in the mountains. The engine brake is fantastic! Just touch the brake to set the down hill speed and it stays there. This is huge!

Number 3

The TV setup works well. It has 3 TV's and one controller to route the different things to watch on each TV. The TV in the living room is a 50 inch, that's the biggest TV we've ever had. The satellite dish on the top is the best. The TV goes down to travel.

Number 4

The Nautilus water system is great. You can control all the different ways to run your water easily just by turning a couple of nobs.

Number 5

The 8K generator that runs nice and quiet. We use it going down the road on those hot days to run both air conditioners to keep the RV cool.  It only sips on the diesel fuel.

Number 6

The macerator pump. It can empty the tank in about 2 minutes. Fast and easy!  Make that crappie job more fun.

The whole wet bay is just so nice. Everything is all in one spot.

Number 7

The controls to run the whole RV is so easy. One touchscreen to run all the lights, slides, climate control, and all the other stuff and it has an app on our phones to do the same thing.

                                            The phone app.

Number 8

We love the residential refrigerator. This is a huge improvement over the old RV that had a "Nevercold" refrigerator. No one should ever buy an RV without one. The ice maker and water in the door is fantastic. That is why we run an RO water system in the RV.

  Number 9

Just the quality of the whole RV is great. I would buy another Jayco RV. It has insulated windows that make it a lot cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. The paint job is fantastic. Just keep it waxed up and it looks great. The old RV had stickers for the graphics.

    Number 10

The leveling system is great. It has enough power to lift the front wheels off the ground. It has a phone app to run it too.

Buying this motor home is one of the best things we've done. The old one was good for the time we had it, but this is way better and we are glad we got it!
