Alway something to fix.

We are at Premier RV Park in Redding, California. We have a nice pull thru site. But it's hot here. Yesterday was 109. The average temp is 91, so it's a little higher than normal.

We did get a set of front tires just before we left Sparks.

The grass on the hill behind us is a quite dry. This whole state could go up in flames anytime.

We drove thru some places that burned last year.

But it's still pretty. Some SNOW for our snow lovers back home.

To stay cool we went to a place we've been to before. Shameless O'Leery's Irish Pub. I had the Mac 'n Cheese. It was really good. Peggy had the Stew and she loved it.

Good draft beer selection, but Peggy wanted a Smithwicks and they didn't have it. It was the first time they were out in 5 years, the bartender told us.

At O'Leery's they like to use the shot ski for Irish whiskey shots.

Ok, this is a funny story. There's always something to fix on the RV. First thing was the front burner on the stove. I ordered the parts online and that went well. Check that off. Then I had to replace the light switch in the bathroom. That went well. So check that off. Then my luck ran out. The furnace was a little more fun. I thought it was the control board. So I took it to a RV parts store and I watched him test it. It tested good. So he sold me the motor for $140. Peggy and I worked on it for 2 hours. It wasn't easy. After we got done it STILL didn't work! So I found a blown fuse replaced it and it STILL didn't work. So I took the board out again and looked at it really close and found the real problem! A little burn spot on the back of the board!

That was not good. I got my soldering iron out and fixed it. It was on the relay that starts the motor.

The motor is way inside and really hard to change out. So $140, one bloody hand injury, two hours of my time and a 5 minute solder job and it WORKS! Check that off. So, do not trust the RV parts guy again!

Before we left Reno, we went to a Diner, Drive in and Dives Place as seen on TV. Noble Pie. It was good but $50 for one pizza and two Beers was a little high. I guess after you're on TV you can charge as much as you want and they will still come.

I am not sure, but I think Katie likes to travel.

On the move

We have moved twice already. We stopped in Boulder City, NV. But it was so hot. It was 113. The park had low voltage and only one air conditioner would run! I cannot figure that out, we were 5 miles from one of the BIGGEST power plants in the U.S. Hoover Dam! So we left a day early and drove 340 miles to Hawthorne, NV. It was still 99 here. But the park had good power. We could run all our air conditioners.

Katie said it's too hot here. Lets go!

Hawthorne is the home of the ordinance Army base. They build all the bombs and missiles here.

They had a nice museum here. We took a good tour of it.

They have had some accidents here and some people have died working.

Oh, I'm a little behind on the blog. We've moved again! We are in Sparks Marina RV Park. We like this park. It's nice and clean. The staff is out and blowing the lots clean everyday.
It's a lot cooler here, only in the high 80's.

We're trying to get new front tires on the truck. But it's been hard to get them. One place, 30 miles away, said they will have them tomorrow so just come in at 2:00. So I drove 30 miles one way and of course they didn't get them in. Someone at the warehouse screwed up! So I called all around here and no dealer can get them this week. What a pain in the butt. Oh, and on the way I lost a hub cap. That will be a pain in the butt too!
Oh and one lug nut cover too.
Another fun thing is going to be, fixing our furnace. It stopped working in Lakeside. I think it's the control board. I'm going to try to get one at the RV dealer here in Sparks. Wish me good luck with that.

I did some self maintenance in Lakeside.
I had a colonoscopy. Everything was good. I'm on the 5 year plan!

Lakeside/Pinetop

We have moved to Ponderosa RV Resort in Lakeside, AZ. We had a little problem getting into our site this year. I hit a car! It wasn't good. That's the first time I've hit something.

We're in the same site as we had last year.

We have good insurance so it will get fixed at no cost to the owner.
We went to dinner at a German restaurant, Munich Haus with our neighbors, John and Karen. They are building a house here in Lakeside. We took a ride to see their lot up in the mountains. Looks like it's going to be nice. John is retired from the Air Force. He retired as Lieutenant Colonel. But Karen still out ranks him on the home front.

It's all about the places to eat for us. Here we are at Long Wongs - Two Hippies. It's a nice place to sit outside and have good food and cold Beer.

Peggy and Katie sitting outside enjoying the cool weather.
One night last week it got down to 29. Now that's cold for us and we are still in Arizona!

I cooked some sweet corn on the BGE last night and it was killer good. Then cooked a Peach Cobbler for dessert. Sorry, no pictures.

We had a Memorial Day party down at the club house. You could get a Hamburger or a Hot Dog with all the fixins for $2. Now, that is cheap! We thought they needed to charge more. So we helped them out a little bit with that. We bought $50 worth of 50/50 tickets and we won! So we donated it back! That's the right thing to do. It's a nice park with a lot of nice people.

Katie loves to sit outside on her foot stool.
