Cool Weather

A little cool and windy this weekend. The wind is blowing 25 with gusts of 40, but it's still sunny. It's a job to keep our mat from blowing away. Other than that we're having a great time in Williams.

We had Prime Rib at the Long Horn Saloon. It was huge. I got the 16oz with a huge baked potato and corn on the cob. This is our favorite bar. They have the Best bartender, Dana. She knows everybody's name and what they drink.

Inside the Long Horn, having a drink with one of the locals, Jim. Almost every time we stop in here, someone has bought us a drink. That's why we love this Bar.

This is one of the trains you can take into the Grand Canyon. It's right next to the RV park.

On Saturday we went to the local Cowpuncher Rodeo. It was not the pro Rodeo, but local ranchers. It was fun to watch. They had some events that you don't see on the pro circuit. One of the funny things was the wild cow milking race. It involved three cowboys, one would rope the cow, one would hold the cow while one cowboy would milk the cow into a cup and run to the judge. Pretty funny.

They also had Wild Bronc riding. Their version had 3 cowboys who had to rope and saddle a wild bronc and ride it around a barrel to win. It was pretty hard to do.

Right next to the RV park there's a field of Prairie dogs. But they're not a good thing to mess with. They can carry Bubonic plague. So they are not that cute.

We saw Eric the Nomadic Fanatic YouTuber in town. We watch him on YouTube. He travels in this old school bus with his girlfriend and 5 cats and likes to dry camp.

Peggy and I did a little RO water maintenance. We changed the filters. Good water is one of the most important things to keep on top of.

An old picture of Peggy and I back in the Hobie racing days. We must have won that weekend.

2nd Stop

We've made it to our second stop. We are at the Grand Canyon Railway RV Park. We have a nice backin site. The good thing is, it's not next to the railroad tracks! The weather has been good, in the low 80's. This park is at 7000 feet. We had dinner the first night at the Grand Canyon Brewery across the street from the park.
Our site. It was a short drive from Clarkdale only 165 miles. Peggy let me drive all the way.

The bar at the brewery.

We stopped at Love's truck repair and got our leaky front hub fixed. It took 2 hours but we got it done! They had to replace the seal and the brake shoes. So we got 1/4 of a brake job too. Always something to fix on the RV. Under a Thousand! Only $438.

There's a car show this weekend in Williams, AZ. The park is full of show cars.

This was a pretty cool one with a hot rod on the back.
The last park was right next to some Tuzigoot National Monument Indian ruins.

The Indians lived here in the 14th century, so they've been gone a long time:-).

Our site at Rain Spirit RV Park. It was one of the nicest sites we've had in a long time. Very nice small park. The park is at 2300 feet.

Whipped up a batch of BBQ Ribs on the Big Green Egg. Ribs are one of the hardest things for me to cook. But they turned out pretty good. I spritz them with DR Pepper at 265 degrees for 3 hours.
Peggy and Katie ran into this coyote on a walk just outside the park. That's a little scary.
We went to the Beer Festival in Clarkdale. Had beer from about 8 different Breweries. One had a cream ale that is what I like. The Brewery in Clarkdale sponsored it. The Smelter Town Brewery. Their beer was pretty good too.
And you always have to take a trip to Jerome up in the mountains above Clarkdale.

Peggy got this picture of a pretty scarlet tanager in the park. The desert has some really beautiful things in it.
