Just waiting

We are just sitting and waiting for the parts to get here to fix our main slide. The parts were supposed be here yesterday, but I called today and they said the weather was the hold up.
So in the mean time we've had to tour the area restaurants and bars.

We found a good place, The Flying Basset Brewery. The beer and pretzel were real good. I had a tasty Cream Ale.
Then we had to try The Beer Research Institute. The beer was not that good, but I got a free 16oz beer koozie. So I kind of liked it.
Then on to The Perch Brewery. This was a real interesting place. They had about 50 rescued birds in the court yard. The beer was good and the nachos were pretty good too.
 A lot of pretty birds.
Cool place.
We got 2 inches of rain one night. We must be in the low end of the park. The flash flood was about a foot deep and flooded the dog park.
It took about two hours to go down.
Katie was having fun in the water.
We saw The West Alley Barbecue and Smokehouse on Man, Fire, Food on Food Network. So we had to go find it. I got Brisket and Sausage plate.
Peggy got the biggest baked potato that I've ever seen. She'll be making a couple of meals out of the leftovers. Covered with smoked Brisket and all the fixings.
We talked to the Pit Master, Jim Dandy. He had lots of BBQ tips to tell me. All top secret of course.
He showed me the Pit that he designed himself. He was from Jackson, Mississippi. That's just down the road from Horn Lake, where our most favorite barbecue place is, Memphis Barbecue Company.
So, as we sit and wait I fixed another drawer in the RV. One thing at a time as we rebuild this rolling home. Still got some more to do. But we saw a handy tool on YouTube that will make this job a lot easier next time. So when we get home (Yuma) I will order that tool. I love tools.

Not a planned Stop

We did a 4 day run to Mesa, AZ. We stopped at a KOA in Colorado City for one night then on to Black Mesa Casino in New Mexico for one night then we stopped at OK RV Park in Holbrook, AZ. I hate making runs like that. We're now in Mesa Spirit RV Park in Mesa AZ. This is one of those old RV parks with really small sites.
We fill the whole site in this Thousand Trails, over priced park. We got here on Saturday and on Monday we took the RV to Arizona RV Services. They checked the slides. They had to order a new slide mechanism for the big slide and a new wire harness for the bedroom slide. These slides SUCK! We have always had problems with them. When they're done we will have fixed all 3 slides at one time or another. It's going to take 10 day just to make the parts then who knows how long it will take to get shipped here. So we just wait. Just the parts cost $1800. I hope we can get out of here by the end of the mouth.
Here's one of the slide controllers.
Don't ever buy an RV with these Schwintek slides!
Katie even says "don't buy an RV with these slides, dumb ass."
Here we are at Arizona RV Services waiting to hear the bad news. I think we took it to the right place to get it fixed. They seem to know what they're doing. A good sign is, when I called, the first thing they didn't ask me was "Did you buy it here?" So they got us in as fast as we could get there. We'll see how it goes. Keep your fingers crossed.

The weather has been HOT, in the low 100's and at night it only gets down to 85. We are running all 3 air conditioners on WFO just to keep it cool in the RV.
This is what it looks like with the slide in. It kind of sucks.
As soon as we get this slide fixed we will be heading to "BGE RV Resort"! Looking forward to getting there.

Stop #16 and 17

We had a great time with Patty and Joe in Deadwood. But now it's time to start heading south.
We had to make a trip to Sturgis. All the big biker bars are closed. We had lunch at Knuckle bar and Brewery and got a couple of
t-shirts of course.
We found the Crow Peak Brewery in Spearfish. The Beer was pretty good. My new craft beer favorite is a Cream Ale. So far the best one was in Newport at Nye Creek Tap House.
Here we are in the world famous Saloon #10 in Deadwood.

Stop # 16 was a disaster! We stopped at a park in Wheatland, WY just off I-25 going south. This was the worst park we've ever stopped at. We only stayed about an hour and had to leave. It was just too bad of a place to stay. So we called the next stop and they said we could come in a day early. When we left, we had a hard time getting our main slide in. I had to find the controller and put it in "Override Mode" to get it to go in. Then when we got to the next park we couldn't get it to come out. So "Override Mode" again. We made some calls to RV repair shops. The best one we found was in Mesa, AZ. It's close to home and we can get in right away. So we're going to make a 4 day run to Mesa to get it fixed. About 950 miles from here. So we plan on doing about 250 miles a day. Wish us good luck.

Stop #17 A.B. Campground in Cheyenne, WY. It's a small park and the sites are pretty tight for big rigs. But they have a BBQ restaurant in the park. We plan on trying it tomorrow. I'll let you know if it was good in the next Blog.
