Prison

We stopped in Rawlins, Wyoming. It's a small town, but it has an old prison. So we took the prison tour. It was pretty interesting. I would not want to be there! The park we stayed at was just a big gravel parking lot with power poles. The weather was not too good, it rained almost every day. So the park turned into a mud hole.

The prison was open from 1901 to 1981. It was not a nice place to be in. Over 13,500 inmates were housed here, including 11 women, during the 80 years it was open. More information can be found on their website wyomingfrontierprison.org

This was cell block A. At the time it was open, it had no electricity and inadequate heating.

The tour was an hour long.

One of the cells.

The gas chamber! You could go sit in it. But that was too creepy to me.

Now we have moved to Sheridan, WY. We're at Peter D's RV park. We stayed here back in 2015. It's a nice grassy park and the owner is on site and checking to make sure we have a good stay.

Our site at Peter D's.

The town has gotten a little bigger. It now has 3 breweries and we've stopped at all 3.

Our bartender, Abby at Luminous Brew House. The tap exploded on her! It's the newest brewery in town. The beer is good. I like the Half Speed Cream Ale they make.

The Menu. It's a dog friendly brewery, like most of them.

Like this bar. This was at the world famous Mint Bar in downtown Sheridan. The Mint first opened in 1907.  It's a nice friendly place.

Katie got to play with a couple of other Bostons in the dog park here.

We have a little wildlife on our site here. A Wolf Spider! Creepy!

Scary Drives

We moved to Grand Junction, Co. Stayed at RV Ranch a nice old KOA but the price was not bad. We had a nice pull thru site, The town is very nice. It has a couple of breweries that we had to try. The one we liked the best was a little drive to Palisades, CO. It was across the street from Palisades Weedery. So it was kind of fun watching people going in and out.

Our site at RV Ranch Park.

We took a drive through Colorado Monument National Park. It was one of the scariest drives we've ever done.

Peggy wouldn't get out of the car! Monster Canyons right next to the road on Peggy's side.

No way we were going down to the edge and look over the side!

Coming out of this tunnel, on the left was what we thought, was a statue of a Desert Mountain Goat, but it was real!

Doesn't it look fake? But he was standing on the edge of the cliff. You can see the road on the other side of the canyon.

And just to our right up the mountain was all of his buddies! We will never do that drive again!

Big Rock!

Then we left Grand Junction and did another really scary drive on our way to Rawlins, WY. We took CO 139. It was a nice drive for the first 50 miles, then it all went to hell. Up a huge mountain 25 miles per hour for a long way up. We got up to 8300 feet high and on a little road.

Peggy did all the Photos and Video, I was a little busy driving. After that scary part it was not too bad of a drive.

On the way, there were these tall fences to deter the many deer we saw from going out on the road. But they had these access places for them to get by the fence if they did get on the road.

Rawlins is kind of a small town and it has rained every day so far! My repair job on the small leak has worked great! No Leak so far. The park we're at is a giant parking lot with power poles. It's not bad. We are going to take the Frontier Prison tour before we go, pictures to come.
