Soft Water

We now have soft water. The softener got delivered yesterday. It only took minutes to install. They make 3 different sizes and of course I got the Biggest one.

It can run for 40 days before it needs to be regenerated with two boxes of common table salt. We will see how it works. It got a lot of good reviews on the internet and our neighbors here have one and they love it.

Hiking With Friends

Jeff, Diane, Peggy and I went to Zion and hiked the Weeping Rock trail. It's a short trip but it goes up 98 feet so it was a very steep trail with big drop offs.

 Then we had to go to lunch at Café Oscars. The food was great.



And the Beer came in Hanker's Tankers. They were good and cold. Great for after a long day of hiking.

Jeff and Diane left this morning to go home and back to work.

We are going to hang out here at the park waiting for our water softener to come in via UPS. Everywhere we have been has really hard water. This should take care of that problem. Our skin is so dry and the faucets are clogging.

Good Friends

Our new friends Pam and Paul AKA Double P left on Sunday morning. They are heading home to Idaho. We may have to look them up when we go to Idaho.

But our friends we meet in Texas, Jeff and Diane pulled in on Saturday. On Sunday Jeff drove and we went to Snow Canyon State Park and then to Veyo for some lunch at Veyo Pies. Peggy and Diane both had the Chicken Pop pie. Jeff and I had a sandwich and I had a piece of apple pie. It was all good. Then we went to Pine Valley.

We did see a turkey in Pine Valley.

 You will never see this sign in Michigan.

This is in Snow Canyon. It is named for two brothers and there last name was Snow. We did not see any snow there.

But we did in Pine Valley. The good kind of snow, way up in the mountains.

Today we got some of our mail. It is always fun doing that. We had it delivered General Delivery to the post office in Hurricane. Peggy went to get it and the first thing they ask is do you have a slip. NO we had it delivered General Delivery how do you get a slip!

Quit Day

Yesterday it was cloudy and cool so we just hung out here in camp. It did snow in the mountains.

But we still got more pictures of our ride in Zion. Peggy took 55 pictures most of them from the back seat of the Big Dog.

We grilled steaks on the BGE for dinner. Then watched the Nascar truck race at Kansas raceway.

Today we are expecting Jeff and Diane to arrive here for a couple of days.

Scariest Rode

We rode the Big Dog thru Zion National Park and it was the scariest road I have ever be on but really beautiful at the same time.

The road just drops off with no guard rails on it.

It had a 1.1 mile long tunnel on it and it wad really dark inside.

This is one of the look out in the tunnel but you could not stop in the tunnel.

Here the road turns and goes down fast.

This is the same road we are on. We are way up above it.

It was one of the best roads we have ever been on. It even beats the Tail of the Dragon. We are going to ride it again on our way to Bryce Canyon next week.

My new 1/2 chaps work great. I hated my old full chaps. It is a little cool up in the park because of the altitude. So you need to dress for that.

This is what the road looks like on a map. This is just the first half.

Zion Mount Carmel Hwy. Motor homes have to stop and wait until there is no oncoming traffic in the tunnel so they can go down the middle of the road. There is only 13 feet clearance. We would not be able to go thru with our rig. We are 13 feet 4 inches tall.

Zion National Park

We rode the Big Dog to Zion National Park and Peggy's pass worked it's magic and got us in for FREE. What a beautiful place.

Peggy got these shots on the way to the park. It was a good ride up in the mountains.

We parked the bike at the visitor center and got on the shuttle we rode it up to Zion Lodge. Then we hiked to the Emerald Pool and Water Fall. It was a .6 mile hike one way but it went up and down a lot. So we did 1.2 miles and it almost killed me hiking in my riding boots. Not a good idea.

You can walk right under this water fall. It was just beautiful.

It was a good thing we did this early in the day because it did get hot hiking up and down.

This is the Virgin River that cut this canyon out. It does not look like a big river to do all that work making a canyon.





On the way  down we saw some Mule deer and one of them came right up the trail we were on so I got a real close up shot about 6 feet away.

On the way out of the park we found a good watering hole Jack's they had cold beer so we could rehydrate.  

We had dinner at this Pizza Wagon they had a wood fired oven on a wagon. We got a pizza for 9 bucks. I guess they have low over head. It was good.

Hurricane Valley

We found out why they call it Hurricane, The wind can come up any time and pretty fast.

We can walk to the grocery store, Credit union, Post office and some restaurants from the park. 

 This is the view of the mountains in Zion park. 

 

Better picture of our site. This is a nice park but they will not receive our mail so we have to get it general deliver to the post office. 

We have not gone to Zion yet. The weather has been rainy and I want to ride the motorcycle there. There is a low pressure system in the four corners area and the rain is just swirling around it. I did make some Jerky on the BGE.

It's not raining all the time but it does come up some times. 

A funny thing we are not use to is it is ok to ride your ATVs and UTVs down the streets here and they got some really cool ones. That is not legal in Michigan.

Hurricane Utah

We have moved to Hurricane Utah to a real nice park, Willowind RV park. We have a nice big back in site with great cable TV. The site has GRASS, This is the first time we have had grass since we left Llano Grande in Texas on April 1st.

I guess you can not see the RV the big truck is in the way. But it is a real nice site. The park is spotless clean. The maintenance guy is even blowing the turn around clean. That is crazy. We are close to the dog walk. Cliff likes that. We are going to be here until June 1st.
This morning they are having a Ironman Marathon in town. We went down to watch the bikes go by. The road is closed for the event.

Great Place

We took the truck to get a bath and fuel in town. Fuel was a little more then we have been paying. The lowest $2.19 the highest here was $2.85 a gallon.

Peggy got a good shot of a hummingbird. We have a couple of them flying around. 

We went to dinner for my birthday at Big John's BBQ. We got the combination plate. It had Brisket, Pulled Pork and Sausage with Baked Beans and Cole Slaw. It was real good. We sat outside on the patio. I got a FREE Root Beer float from John.

 We went down to the marina to look at the big house boats.

The water is 108 feet below normal here. You can really tell it is low.



This shot is across the lake from the campground. That is how nice our new camera can zoom in.

We did watch the Red Wings blow game seven. Now we have to wait until next year to get the Stanley Cup.
