Friends From Michigan

We had some friends from Michigan stop by, Denish and Sandhya. We went to Silly Al's for a nice lunch. It was good to see both of them. It was good to hear some news from home. I worked with Denish at KUKA the best place I ever worked.

On last Saturday there was a coin  shoot out at the town park. They took 14000 Nickels, Quarters and Dimes and some tokens and planted them in the park. They get one hour to find as much as they can with metal detectors. They keep all the money they find and the tokens are for prizes.
Getting ready.
On the hunt!
We sat in the back of the truck to get a view from above.

Our Thanksgiving Day potluck here at the club house in the park. The food was great. I way over ate.
Finely got my flag pole set up fixed. So it flies again.

Quinn Pass

We took a Big Dog ride to Bouse, AZ. To get there we had to ride through Quinn Pass. There was a historic marker with the history of Thomas P. Quinn a long lost relative of ours. (I am sure my mom knew him)

There was a sign up sheet at the base of the sign so we left our name and date in the book.
This is the Ocotillo Lodge in Bouse, AZ. Good place. Where else can you get $1.00 drafts all day every day?
The Saguaro Cactus is growing through the roof on the porch of the lodge. Add this place to our list of cool out of the way places we have been.
Peggy got some good pictures of the Saguaro Cactus in the desert on the way to Bouse.
Here are some people boon-docking on the BLM land. We are not into doing that. We like FULL HOOK-UP!

This is some desert cactus art.

We are going WAY back on this one. Grandma, Grandpa and aunt Mary Jane on grandpa's Harley in front of  Miller's Meat Market in Saginaw, MI. Grandpa owned the Meat Market.

Pretty Quiet

Pretty quiet here in Quartzsite but the weather is pretty good. It's has been in the mid 70's and always sunny. At night it gets a little cool, down to the 40's. So we run the furnace at night, but it makes for good sleeping.
This is just a cool bar.
Deb, Peggy and I made the big trip to Beer Belly's then to the store to get food for the weekend.
Some of the ladies playing cards in the park.

Some of the flowers here in the park.
I made a new handle for the BGE. It's made of Saguaro Cactus wood. Some of the guys in the part go out in the desert in their quads and bring the wood back and make walking sticks out of them.

It should get busier after thanksgiving here in Quartzsite. Some of the flea markets are starting to get set up. They have a big area for the "Big Tent" right behind Beer Belly's for the RV show in January. They say that it will take an hour to get through town when the RV show is on. You can buy anything you need for your RV there.

Patty sent me this picture. Not sure where it was but it was a long time ago. Me, my sister, Patty and brother, Terry.

RV Maintenance

Had to do a little RV maintenance. We had a bad arm on the big awning.

The arm had a big crack in it from a rain storm we had way back in Louisiana last fall. We have been using it that way for a long time. The crack was getting bigger every time we used it. I had to order it from the factory and have it shipped here. You have to change the whole arm to fix it and it cost $450.00. With a little help, Niels and I changed it in about 15 minutes. It took longer to get all the tools out then it did to change it. I parked the truck next to the RV and we used it to reach the top of the arm. After we got that done we took the Big Dog for a ride to Beer Belly's to get a pop or two.
 This is the bar.
Outside, nice tables and chairs in the warm sun.
A cool table with funny legs.
This is one of the other bars in town and close to the park. The Grubstake. The food is pretty good.
Peggy got a good picture of this Quail. It's still not time to have a Quail cookout.
The weather has been a little cool only in the 70's but sunny.

Sunny

Here in Quartzsite it has been nice and sunny and a little cool. It should get to 78 today.
We made a trip to Blythe, California, it's about 20 miles to the west on I10 just across the Colorado River. It's a small town but they have a good hardware and grocery stores.
We had lunch at the Red Cactus. Peggy had Mexican Caesar salad, she said it was the best salad she has ever had.
This is the Cactus garden right across from our site.
The big truck got a bath yesterday. An RV washing service came thru the park. The next time he comes back he is going to do our RV.
Happy Hour.
This is the RV Pit Stop. We get our RO water there. It is right across the street from our park. A lot of RV's stop here before they go out in the BLM land and dry camp.  We did drive by the BLM land. There are a couple hundred RVs out there already. They say that there will be thousands of them later.
There are a lot of flea markets in Quartzsite. We found a really cool outside bar in the flea market area. It's call the Beer Belly Bar also known as Adult Day Care. They had a lot of tables out in the sun.

Sunny

We have been here in Quartzsite for almost a week and it has been Sunny every day and in the 80's.
The park had to make a parking spot for our truck. It is to big to fit on our site. It's right across from our site.
Peggy got a good picture of some the Quail that run thru the park. We may have a Quail cook out later in the year. It is too early to get kicked out of the park. There is a lot of wild life around. We have hummingbirds at our feeder. We can hear the Coyotes at night.
With some help from Bill, I added a second set of wheels to the BGE table. That will make it a lot easier to get it up the ramp into the back of the RV.

Bill was a home builder and he had some of the right tools to cut the legs off. It turned out real nice.
We have been to all 3 grocery stores in town. They're not the best stores I have ever been to. We will have to drive about 20 miles to Blythe, CA to get to a bigger store.
We did have dinner a the Grubstake the other night. Peggy got this giant Fish dinner and I got the Clam basket. They were both good.
As I sit here writing this Blog I am watching the Lions get their butts kicked again. But the Michigan game yesterday was a great game.
