Week 8

I've made it to week 8 already! Doing good. Home therapy is done and now doing outpatient therapy at a place close to home. They have machines that work me hard 2 days a week for an hour each time. It's a lot harder, but a good work out. I can now drive the car and I have golfed a couple of times. Still have a little pain, but doing really good.

At outpatient therapy they wire me up to help with the pain after a hard workout. The knee is starting to look like a real knee.

They make me ride the bike for 10 minutes just to get warmed up for the hard work.

Now that I could drive we went and picked up the big truck from the paint shop. They did a good job on the paint job. Looks like new. Here's Arnold, the paint shop owner and I in front of the big truck. Arnold is a really nice guy and has a thriving business.

We had a great Thanksgiving. Cooked a huge turkey on the BGE. We had turkey for 2 weeks after that.

We hosted a happy hour on a nice Sunday afternoon. We had a good group, now that Joe let the Canadians in this winter.

Then the shot ski came out.

I'm not sure that old people should be doing shot skis, but what fun to watch.

We've really been busy. We've been dealing on a new (to us) motorhome. The experience has been full of ups and downs, but now the deal is done. The new one just needs a part for the levelers. So we're waiting to go to Vegas to pick it up. It's amazing how much stuff we have in this one. We'll probably have to downsize our stuff. Our shed is full.

Here's a picture of the new one. It's a little smaller than the big toy hauler we have now, so it will be a little easier to drive around. We're just waiting for a phone call to go get it. Keep your fingers crossed the part is not on one of those ships off the coast of California! Joe!

Bill and Marsha pulled into town yesterday. Glad to hear they had a good trip down. I think they brought the cold weather with them as it has cooled down to mid 60s now. Thanks a lot Bill and Marsha 😏. So we had to go out to dinner right away.

Nearly 5 weeks in

Well, nearly 5 weeks into this knee replacement thing and it still hurts! Especially when Shelly, the therapist Gestapo, shows up twice a week. She makes me do bad things to my leg. Pretty soon she's going to make me do jumping Jacks.

Peggy took me to the doctor and he said I'm doing better than most. I was really surprised to hear that. He had me walk up and down the hallway and said see you in 4 weeks.

Doctor Ron checking it out. He said I could practice driving the car in the driveway. Like I did when I was 15 years old and I could start with my 7 iron at the range. I really don't think I'm ready for either yet.

This is one of those bad things she makes me do.

This is what they put in my knee.

Peggy had a little project to fix the biggest blind in the whole RV.
It was a little stressful, But she got it done. Only took a couple of hours of watching Youtube on how to do it. But it turned out nice.

Katie loves her bean bag chair.

The weather has been great. The temperatures have been way above normal and nice and sunny. I think this has been the best fall weather we've had in a long time. We love the sunny south west.

Not much to blog about when we don't go or do anything. It will be better when this leg thing is done.

Doing Pretty Good

It's been 3 weeks since my full knee replacement. I'm walking on the bad leg already, without the walker. I've been doing home therapy a couple of days a week. Peggy is taking good care of me. I love her! (But, she makes me get my own Beer now.)

Home therapy. Shelly is measuring my range of movement. I think I had improved 3 more degrees. It's hard work.

I have one little, bad looking spot. It's a little red.

Some of my first steps without the walker.

Sitting outside, we set up a hummingbird feeder on the table and they buzz us all the time. Pretty cool.

More wildlife in the tree next door. The owl sat in the tree all day.
The drive thru at the Dairy Queen. Some guy tried to drive thru with a 5th wheel on his truck.

He must have been crazy.

We couldn't find Caramel Apples at the store here, so we make our own. They are killer good. I love Peggy!

Katie looking for her friends, Buffy and Gracie. They just pulled in to town today.

Got it Done

I finally got it done. I got my left knee replaced. It's not the most fun I've ever had, but it had to be done.

Right after surgery I was freezing. The last thing I remembered was, it was 7:30 am, the next thing it was 10:00am and my leg hurt. They had me up and walking on it by 10:20 with the aid of a walker. Then, off to rehab for 7 days. I had physical therapy twice a day. 15 minutes on a bike, then worked on steps going up with the good leg then go down with the bad leg.

The view after we took the leg wrap off.

After a visit to the doctors office a week later. He released me to go home that day. Rehab was fun, but not that much fun. Glad to be home. Big zipper!

Katie was glad her lap buddy was back home. That's enough about me.

Peggy planted some Tomato plants. We will keep you posted on the progress. Week 1.

Today, physical therapy is coming to our lot. We'll see how that goes.

We made it Home

We've made it back home, here in the Fortuna Foothills! It's nice to be back.

We stopped in Lake Havasu City for a week on the way. We stayed at Havasu Falls RV Resort. We had the best site in the park. That was the first time we stayed in Havasu. The town has a lot of good restaurants and bars. Our favorite place was College Street Brewhouse. The food was good and the beer was great.

Our site was right across from the clubhouse and pool.

Probably the best site of our trip this year.

We made a trip to our favorite bar on the Colorado river. Fox's!

I love fast and noisey boats! The water is beautiful and fast flowing.

It's like a little boat show on the river. The one on the right has twin turbochargers on it.

We got back and sold our golf cart in two days. It was nice to have, but we didn't use it enough to haul around.

We had to do a little car maintenance. A new battery and had to put a new terminal on it. Now it runs like a top.

This morning Peggy got up early and got this great photo of a thunderstorm going by. It rained a little bit.

I went to my knee doctor to set up knee replacement, so next Tuesday I'm getting it done.

Big Run

I am a little behind on the blog. We've moved from Grants Pass, OR to Durango RV park in Red Bluff, Ca for a one night stop. It's a KOA park that is too expensive to stay long at $75 a night. We try to avoid KOA parks. But, the funny thing is, we went to another KOA park in Verdi, NV. It's just outside of Reno. We had a really bad site that was hard to get into and wasn't level at all. The only cool thing was a good bar close by. Sasquatch Tavern the food was really good. Lois came over and went to lunch with us.

Peggy had some seafood thing and I had Chicken Marsala and Lois had the Bigfoot Burger. All the food was good. We might have to stop here again just to eat at this place again.

Sasquatch photo bombed me in the bar.

Back at the park, Peggy spotted a bear just outside the park down in a canyon. He was huge.

This is the bear canyon right next to the park. That is the Truckee River flowing by.

After Verdi we went to Hawthorne, NV and stayed two nights at Whiskey Flats RV Park. We stop here often. It's the nicest park on the way down 95.

It was really smokie from all the wildfires here in the west.

We lost a seal on the back axle of the truck again. This time on the driver's side. Luckily, there is one shop here in Hawthorne that will work on big rigs. I had the rotors replaced a couple of years ago and I think the guy that did it, didn't torque the nuts right.

So now we are in Wine Ridge RV Resort in Pahrump, NV. It's a high end park with two pools.

They grow grapes here in Nevada. That is just crazy.

Back Online!

We just spent the last 2 week OFFLINE! The first week we were in Gold Beach, OR at Oceanside RV park. It had very little cell phone and internet service. We will never stay there again. The only thing we found in Gold Beach was a good bar and a nice Brewing Company. The bar was Hunters Creek Bar and Grill. The food and beer were very good. Right next door was the Arch Rock Brewing Company.

It was windy and cold here and the park was not all that nice. Dirt roads.

Katie and I went down to the Rogue river to watch the salmon fishermen on the river.

Arch Rock Brewing Company ice cold lager!

We had to get some to go!

The next week we were in Crescent City, CA at Redwood Meadows Rv Park. It was an OK park but they had almost no cell phone service and NO internet service. Not much in Crescent City to see or do. The one restaurant we went to was to go only. We had to eat in the truck.

It was in the harbor in town.

Saw some sea lions in the harbor.

We met a nice, little pug, Bean. Just 10 weeks old.

We are now in Grants Pass, OR at The Rogue River Overnighters RV Park. We have a nice 70 foot pull thru site. The best thing of all . . . we have cell and internet service! The drive here was a little tricky on 199. About 80 miles of winding and crazy road.

Our site in Grants Pass. We have been to Grants Pass before and we like it here. Nice Little town that has everything.

Guardrail, then 800 feet down! This might have been the scariest road we've been on. I just rode the yellow line and hoped no one was coming the other way and was doing the same thing.
