We Made It!

We made it to Spearfish, SD! About 1400 miles. We're at one of our favorite RV Resorts, Elkhorn Ridge RV Resort. We've never been in cold weather with this RV, so we did have some things go wrong. First, our Starlink router quit working. That is a really bad thing. We use it for all our TV streaming. So I had to go to Best Buy and get a new one. Then our new hot water heater was getting a E8 fault code! I emailed Fogatti and they sent me a video on how to adjust a parameter in the computer and it fixed the problem. Then, the furnace that we never use was having a fault from the fan blower motor switch. I know how to fix that. I've adjusted it 3 or 4 times now and ordered a new one from Amazon. We will see if that fixes it for good.

The whole reason we're here is to get our Drivers license renewed! We got that done already. We had to jump thru a lot of hoops to get it done, but we got it! I don't think any illegals can get a Drivers license here in South Dakota because it's so hard to do.

Having a Bloody Mary to celebrate this huge achievement!

Our site in Elkhorn Ridge RV Resort. Last time we were here was 2019 with Patty and Joe. We like this area. Lots of fun things to do like, Deadwood is only 8 miles away then Lead is a cool little town to visit and Spearfish is cool all by itself. We are here for 10 days, so we have lots of time to hit all our favorite places.

On the way we stopped in Bullhead City where we ran into ZZ Top in River Rat Bar. We had to go here to get our favorite Philly Steak Sandwich, they have the best!

Our dear friend, Barney has parked the Submarine veterans club float in our RV port to get it out of the brutal Arizona sun until we get back.

It's a little hard to tell but, here we are driving thru SNOW! That is a first for us in 10 years. But I still have my shorts on!

This is how cold it is. Frozen water in the fields in Idaho.

Lots of SNOW in the mountains on the way.

Oh, before we left Fortuna Foothills I went to Mission Hills Golf Club and played the Pete Dye course.

Here's Clarence and I, ready to tee off. This is the most beautiful course I've ever played. We had 12 guys, so we had a little scramble game. We shot a 69.

Check out the powerful form on our team mate Alex.
Believe it or not I only lost 2 balls. Just a beautiful course.

Big money. They have 3 courses. Pete Dye, Dinah Shore and the Arnold Palmer course.

Katie looks at us like we're crazy, going North in this cold weather. She thinks we have lost our minds.

Getting ready to hit the road

We're almost ready to hit the road for the summer. We've made all our reservations for the trip. The first thing we have to do is head to South Dakota to get our driver license renewed. Mine expires on April 28th. We're taking 2 weeks to get there. I hope we don't run into any SNOW. We had to get eye exams to get the license because we're over 65 years old. But I can see fine! One park we're going to is opening on the day we get there. That's how early we're going. We're looking forward to our trip. We're going to some new places and some good old favorites.

My golf partner, Clarence got a hole in one! It was a 180 yard shot that just went in the hole. We looked behind the green first, but it was in the hole. What a great shot!

We got the motorhome washed and waxed for $250. Arizona Detail Kings do a great job.

We went downtown to Military appreciation day. This photo is of our friend Barney, who was a navy diver and these are all the ships he was on. He has a lot of good stories.

We have a Marine Corp air base here in Yuma. So we get such good air shows sometimes.

Peggy and I made our last trip over to Mexico to stock up on cheap drugs before we leave. Oh, and you have to get some lunch over there too.
We picked up some Tequila for Barney on the way back.
You're allowed one liquor purchase per month.

We found a new place, High Tanks Brewing Company. It's about 3 miles out in the desert in Wellton, AZ. 15 miles from our place. The beer was good. Peggy started with Daphne's Date Ale. I had the Bomb Ranger Blonde Ale. Both were good. It's on a huge Date tree farm. They have food and a stage with live music playing. We're going back on Friday to have lunch and maybe a beer or two.  The only thing that's bad is you have to drive down a dirt road for a couple of miles. It's close to the Barry Goldwater Bombing Range so a lot of off road vehicles come there. It's a good place to stop and take a break. They also have a place in a plaza in Wellton. So we had to go and check it out too. We had the Double Date Ale there and it was good too. They have a great website https://hightanks.com/

Having fun at Loud Mouth Bingo. Peggy, Barney, Mike, Becky and me.

I don't think Katie is ready to go on the trip.
She loves this lot here in Yuma.
