Trip to Mexico

We made a trip to Mexico. We got Cliff's heart guard for $26.00 half price here. The leather shop had my half chaps done. They are really cool. I also got a new belt.

The Rio Grande river is about as big as the Tittabawassee river. Even I could swim across it.

Today we went to South Padre Island, we had so much fun we are going to go back tomorrow. We are going to have a picnic on the beach. You can drive your truck on the beach for $5.00. Cliff is going to go with us and have fun on the beach.

We had lunch at Pier 19. I had a pound of peel and eat Shrimp, Peggy had the Grouper.

Big Ride

Yesterday was bike day. We had 24 riders. We rode to Laredo Texas, round trip 370 miles. I had a problem with the Big Dog, the main drive pulley nut is coming loose. I am going to have parts sent from Forest Cycle Works and fix it myself. That will be fun. I miss Kirk he is the best mechanic for the Big Dog. I called him and he knew what was wrong and told me how to fix it.

We got this Parrot picture this morning on our walk. They are just beautiful birds and noisy.

Peggy and Terry went to ladies night out at the rec center.

Looks like they had a ton of fun.

I went and played Texas Hold'm, Came in 4th.

Today we are going to make a trip to Mexico form lunch.

 



Nice weather

Dan and I went golfing. We could only play 9 holes, because they had a scramble with a shot gun start at noon. The good thing was we played for FREE.

Peggy and I went to the local outlet mall and had lunch. Get a new pan to cook my meatballs in the sauce. Then we just relaxed in the sun for the rest of the afternoon.

Today I am going to cook meatballs on the BGE for dinner.

Late Blog

The Blog is late today because was out Golfing early today.

Yesterday we rode the bike to the bass pro shop and bowled for an hour. We suck at bowling but had fun.

We got back and let Jeff and Diane's dog, Champ out to play with Cliff.

I cooked some chicken wing on the BGE. Then down to the hot tub.

The day was really nice. Today it is going to get to 73 and sunny all day.





Peggy got a good picture of a Parrot today. They are pretty cool but noisy.

Shopping Day

We made a trip to Don Wes flea market on Saturday. We got some of Scotty's dips.

 I am making an attempt to cold pack some pickles. Dan, next door makes the BEST pickles, he adds a jalapeno to it and it kicks up the heat.

I Grilled some big steaks on the BGE last night with baked potatoes. It was a nice sunny day, we sat outside most of the day.

 

Our neighbors Jeff and Diane went on a trip to the King ranch, so we let their dog, Champ out a couple of times. He would only walk a little ways with us and then he would turn around to go back. Sometimes Peggy would go to let him out and he would not come out of the RV.

Friday Night Fish Fry

The Friday Night Fish Fry is a little different here there is no Perch. But it is a big turn out at the American Legion. You have to get there early to get a good seat.

ABBA Show

Here at the park they had a ABBA Grilz show at the rec hall. It was a sold out show.

We had good seats for the show.

I did smoke some Red Snapper and Salmon on the BGE and while it was warmed up I made a pizza for dinner.

The weather was going down hill all day. It was warm in the morning but by the afternoon it cooled way off. Right now it's only 45 but sunny and a little windy. It should warm up for the weekend.

Fun With Birds

We made the trip to the World Birding Center at the Bentsen Rio Grande State Park. It was really nice, a lot of birds we have never seen before.

The park is right on the border of Mexico. So you see a lot of border patrol in the area. This was right on the Rio Grande River.  

 Today I am going to smoke some Red Snapper on the BGE that Jeff caught in the Gulf of Mexico yesterday. Never smoked Snapper before, so let's try it for fun!

Peggy's Back

Cliff is so happy that Peggy is back.

Yesterday it got up to 82 degrees and sunny.

The water down here is not too good to drink. So they have a filtered water station 25 cents a gallon. I got a new pump for our water bottle.

It runs on 2 D cell batteries.

Today we are going to the World Birding Center in Mission Texas

To get more information on the Parrots. They are so cool looking.



Good Little Ride

I took the bike out for a ride yesterday. I rode to the Bass Pro Shop to get some more Jerky seasoning. I had lunch there, they have 12 bowling lanes and a bar in the middle for them. It is pretty cool.

This is a huge fish tank behind the bar, full of beautiful fish.

Last night a flock of parrots flew over, they are back.

 

Today the weather is going to be the best, sunny and 80 degrees out.

Peggy is coming home tonight. Cliff is looking forward to that. He misses his momma.

 



Great Football

Oh that Seattle, Green Bay game was great football. Sat outside with Dan and Jeff and watched the game. The New England game was not as good. But how about those Red Wings, they where 3 goals down and they came back to win 6 - 4. Zetterberg had a hat trick.

Cliff had his spot for the games. It was a good day for sports, We even watched Golf.

It is a little foggy out this morning but it should get to the mid 70's today. I think I am going for a bike ride today. Ride to the Bass Pro Shop. I need some more Jerky seasonings.

Good Time

Dan, Terry and I made a trip to Mexico. It was a beautiful day, sunny and in the high 60's. Finally got to wear shorts again. I did get 3 bags of the best HOT peanuts I have ever had.

We went to the leather shop. They are making me a pair of half chaps. They had them done but they were too big. So I will have to make another trip to get them in a week or so. 

We had lunch at the Red Snapper. It was very good.

Dan and a bowl of spicy shrimp. I had the stuffed shrimp wrapped with bacon.

Today is football Sunday. The weather is going to be in the high 60's today. So I think I will watch the game outside today.  

 

Better Weather

Finely the weather has broke, it was sunny and warm yesterday. Today sunny and warmer, up to 70 degrees.

They had a small RV show here at the Mercedes Rodeo Park. It was some thing fun to do. I went with Jeff and Diane.

Today we are going to Mexico. I need to get some more of those  killer HOT peanuts, they are so good. 

Peggy is still in FLA and the dog is still alive and the RV is not too trashed. She will be back on Wednesday.

 



Better Days

The weather is getting better. It is going to get to 64 today, 72 tomorrow.

Last night I played Texas Hold'em. I got some good hands final but the last hand was the killer. I had ace, ten in my hand, the flop was queen. king and a jack. That gives me a ten to ace straight, a great hand. Then a guy at the table went all in and another player went all in. Oh I thought this is going to be a great WIN. I went all in. We all turn our cards over. The first guy had a king, seven. The other player had a ace, ten also. So I thought I will have to split the pot. Then the turn card was a queen. I am still in good shape. Then the river card was a KING. Oh no the gives the first guy a FULL HOUSE. Beating my STRAIGHT! It was still fun.

To day is going to be nice out, so it's time to make some Jerky on the BGE.

 

Cold

Yesterday it only got up to 44 and it was a light mist all day.

Today it should get to 58 and partly sunny. It is still better then THIS!

This picture was last winter at our house. I do not miss this weather at all. It was February 18th.

 



On My Own

I took Peggy to the airport this morning. She is off to Jacksonville FL to see her dad for a week. My main goal is to not kill the dog and not trash the RV.

The weather is still rainy and cold but this weekend it is going to change to 70 and warm. They say it is going to stay that way. We will see.

I made chicken pop pies for dinner. They turned out really good. I love that convection oven.

I played Texas Hold'em last night and got my butt kicked. I think I only won one hand and that was with a pair of sixes, that is really sad.

 



Nice Day

Monday was a nice sunny and warm.

Today rainy and cold.

We played shuffle board in the afternoon. I suck at it. My record is 0-4. Peggy is 2-2, one win was on me.
I grilled some dead chicken on the BGE. Today we are going to have chicken pop pies with the left overs.
We got bad news, Peggy's stepmother Pat passed away on Monday. Peggy will be traveling to Jacksonville FL. to be with her dad.

Football Sunday

We watched all the football games. Go Packers!

Today the weather is going to be good sunny and 68. I need to go to the store and get something to cook on the BGE for dinner. Shuffle board at 1 o'clock.

 



The Sun is Back

Yesterday we had to fill the Propane tanks, first time since we got here. Last time was in Michigan it cost $54.00 to fill two tanks. Here it cost $38.00 to fill two tanks. What is up with that?

We hung out here and watched the football games and cooked a meatloaf. So today is football and meatloaf sandwiches.

The weather is better today. The sun is out. It should get close to 60 today. That is still not close to the average of 70!

 

I am in the middle of changing all the light bulbs in the RV. The original ones have been blowing out. The new ones are LED and should last a lot longer. There are 24 LEDs in each bulb. They are easy to change.

You just pull the lens of and replace the bulb. There is 26 fixtures in the RV to change. That is a lot of bulbs to change.

Cold Cold Cold!

It's COLD! It was 35 this morning and raining hard.

 

We made our regular Friday night trip the American Legion for the fish fry. There was some bagpipers there this week. 

We are going to stay home and watch the football games and cook a meat loaf. The convection oven works great.

Cliff chilling out. He does not want to go outside in the rain.

Oh I am not asleep here.

Below Average

They tell me the average temperature is 70 here in the Rio Grande Valley. Then why did it only get to 40 yesterday? It is still cold today too.

So yesterday we had to play inside. After watching a movie we took our neighbors to Peckers to watch live music in the afternoon. The place was packed with "Winter Texans" that is what they call us. It was a good time. Then we had to get back for the Wood Shop cookout. A burger and two beers for $8. Then after the cookout it was Texas hold 'em time. I had fun but did not play well. I will get them next time.

I am trying not to put pictures of food on the blog but these are so good I can not help it.

 

 

 

 



Cooling Off

The weather is cooling off, down to 40 last night.

New camera test picture. What a lucky dog.

We tried to go to a bar someone told us about. They were going to have live music on Wednesday afternoon. We found it but it was not open. So we had to go to our old fall back bar D. D. Peckers.  

This afternoon there is live music at Peckers. But there is a hamburger cook out at the rec hall for the wood shop. You get a burger and 2 beers for $8.00. Not sure where we are going to go yet. Some many things to do!  



Vet trip

Another trip to the vet for Cliff for more test and drugs.

We had some time to wait for his test. So we made a trip to Bass Pro Shop to get me a new bathing suit. When we there we checked out the Fish Bowl & Grill in the store. It looked really cool a bar and bowling alleys in it.

 

Next time we go back we are going to have lunch there.

Today we are going to Horsemen's Saloon for live music and lunch. Pictures to post tomorrow. 

When we where in Mexico on Saturday we got some hot peanut, they are the best I have ever had. Need to get more next trip.
