Crawfish Festival

On Saturday we took a trip to Breaux Bridge, LA to the Crawfish Festival. This is one of the best Festivals in the country! You can eat anything Crawfish. I had Crawfish Balls, Peggy had the Crawfish Mac and Cheese. They have two stages going with The best Zydeco bands and big dance floors.
The main stage.
You bring your favorite chair and get a good spot and just have a great time. Can you find me in the picture?
It was a beautiful day.
It's also the best place to people watch.
So we also had to go to Touchet's (pronounced 2 checks) for the Cajun Jam Session.
This is some of the best music.
Ten people all on one stage.
Peggy hanging with Lou, one of the locals.
We did have a little excitement, an old gentleman danced a little to hard and passed out at the bar. They had to take him to the hospital. But the band only stopped for one song. The party must go on.

On Monday we went to Morgan City, La to take a tour on the first offshore drilling rig. It was called "Mr Charlie". It was in service from 1954 to 1986. It could drill in water up to 40 feet deep. That doesn't sound that deep but the Gulf of Mexico down here is very shallow.
It's now used as a training and tour rig. There were some Navy Seals training while we were there.
 Up on the deck.
Peggy holding one of the heavy, smaller drill heads.
They had an under water, remote control sub. Our guide said it cost a million dollars.
  A manned diving bell.
A 24 person rescue boat.
This is where the pipe went down.
Here it is at work.
The world famous Betty's Happy Hour. (Jim and Nanc, see any familiar faces?)

Live Happy and Always Go Big.
