Quake Lake Ride

We took a trip on the Big Dog to Quake Lake. On  August 17, 1959, an earthquake measured 7.5 on the Richter scale and caused an 80-million ton landslide, which formed a landslide dam on the Madison River. The earthquake was the most powerful to hit the state of Montana in historic times. The landslide traveled down the south flank of Sheep Mountain, at an estimated 100 miles per hour, killing 28 people who were camping along the shores of Hebgen Lake and downstream along the Madison River.
This is Sheep Mountain from the road.

We had to stop at The Happy Hour Bar. It is right on the Hebgen Lake with a beautiful view and they have a bar puppy.
It was just a beautiful ride. We were on a Big Horn Sheep lookout, but we did not see any.
We had to stop a The Buffalo Bar. Who could pass a bar with that name and they had a full size Buffalo in the bar.
When we got back to camp I BBQ some chicken wings for dinner on the BGE. The weather has been great warm and dry.
West Yellowstone is just like any little town you can find in the UP of Michigan, but all the people here have teeth.
Oh I got the comments to show up on the bottom of the Blog, so feel free to leave a comment.
