On our Ride

Not too much to blog about here in Wyoming. So a look back to one of our rides in Montana. We rode to Red Lodge one day. It's a small western town that was pretty cool. Then on our way back we rode past an old mining site, it had a sign that read "The Smith Mining Disaster".
On February 27, 1943 there was the worst coal mining disaster in Montana history. 74 miners died and only 3 survived. They were as deep as 8000 feet. The mine is near Bearcreek Montana. Peggy got this shot from the back seat of the Big Dog.
This is how it looked back in 1943. The Smith Mining company did not survive the disaster and it close shortly after.
The office building as it is today.
It is interesting to look back at some things like this. I am glad we got to ride past this old mining site and look it up on the internet and read about it.
